Helene Meyers
Artistic Director and Founder. In 2011, Slaying Dragons was founded by Helene Chorlins Meyer. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Helene graduated from Washington University with a Bachelor ‘s degree in English and became a teacher for over twenty-five years. Throughout most of this time, Helene
suffered from clinical depression which made her roles as mother and educator an even greater challenge.
With the help of medication and therapy, Helene fought the depression to success. In 2006, she wrote a book with dramatic readings based on her struggle.(name) Then in 2011, she founded Slaying Dragons whose mission is to destroy the stigma of mental illness and help others find the professional treatment needed. Helene continues
to perform with devoted theater people to bring hope to all who strive for good mental health. To life!
